The MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) Regulation constitutes a comprehensive regulatory framework for Digital Asset Service Providers (DASPs) operating within the European Union.
This regulation, adopted by the European Union, defines the requirements that PSANs must meet in order to obtain an authorisation or registration, in accordance with the new rules in force. MiCA addresses essential aspects such as the security and resilience of information systems against cyber threats, including the protection of digital wallets, the prevention of data leaks, and the defence against denial of service attacks.
The regulation also covers outsourcing obligations, the development of a comprehensive cybersecurity program, cyber threat risk analyses, the protection of personal data, and protocols to follow in the event of a security incident.
MiCA's objective is to ensure the security and reliability of the services offered by PSANs, strengthening protection against cyber risks in the digital asset ecosystem in Europe.
